Jersey Animal Coalition is an all volunteer not-for-profit that has rescued and placed over 7,000
stray and abandoned pets since it was founded in 1989. Our mission is to preserve life. Now, as
the dream of our own Shelter has become a reality, we need your financial support today! JAC
is self supporting. All donations go to the care of the animals.

Please Support JAC During Economic Downturn
These are hard times. For everyone. Many individuals and families are struggling with the loss of jobs, homes, and food. The economic downturn has had a significant impact on other members of our society too – family pets. In our twenty years of saving thousands of animals’ lives, we have never seen so many dogs and cats surrendered to us because of financial hardship. They come to JAC with all kinds of conditions – malnutrition, mange, pneumonia, and in need of surgery. Many require medical assistance because their previous owners could no longer afford to provide it.

Our goal is to give every abandoned, abused and lost pet at JAC, regardless of age or physical condition, a better life than it had before. This means providing not only shelter, food and love, but medical care as well. The cost of making medical attention available for so many animals is taking a heavy toll on our limited resources, and we need your help!

Your contribution to JAC will help us ensure a healthy and happy future for every needy animal that comes our way.
Please complete our donation form and mail your tax deductible gift today to support Jersey Animal Coalition’s Medical Emergency Fund. On behalf of the animals in our care, we extend grateful thanks!

Warm regards,

Ruth Perlmutter, President

Thanks to All Who Attended our Gala
On October 25, 2009, JAC held its twentieth Anniversary Gala, honoring Mark and Wanda Shefts, founders of the Onyx and Breezy Foundation, for their invaluable support in funding our Neuter/Spay Clinic. Special thanks also went to the Freshpet food company for their generous donations of food to keep our animals happy, healthy and well fed. The Master of Ceremonies was Lonnie Quinn, CBS TV's inimitable weatherman.  (11/23/09)

Volunteers Scale Mt. Kilimanjaro in Support of JAC
We are BAAAACK!!! Thank you ALL so much for all of the well wishes & support. You truly have no idea how much I called upon them as were were climbing at 3:00 am in the pitch black with still no sight of the summit!!! To say that this endeavor was the hardest thing I have ever done, is trivializing it. I'll try to furnish some more interesting pictures in the weeks to come for those of you who care to live it with me, but for the immediate, here is a photo of the JAC banner at the peak!!!! Yeah!!

For the record, I made it all the way to this Uhuru's highest peak, & while Charlie did accomplish the summit, he needed to go down just shy of this point. So therefore for any of you who know my husband, that is not him on the other side of the banner. For that matter, my face was SOOOO swollen, you may not believe that it is actually me on the left but it is!!!

Thanks again,
Kim  (08/16/09)

JAC Volunteers Appear on Eyewitness News TV
JAC offers its best wishes and thanks to JAC adopters and longtime volunteers Kim and George McGuire, who will be climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise funds for JAC. Kim and George appeared on Channel 7 Eyewitness News on July 5, 2009 to announce their climb, and they brought along JAC pets "Brad Pitt" and "Shannon." These two sweet dogs are helping the McGuires on their training walks while they wait for homes of their own.

Girl Scouts Spend the Day at JAC
Troops Number 157 and Number 65 spent a wonderful day at our Shelter, getting acquainted with our animals and learning how a shelter works. They enjoyed learning about the responsibility of owning a pet, and especially loved meeting Brad, our lovable Pit Bull, who dispensed kisses to all the girls.

Dolly and Stitches Get a Checkup!
Dolly, one of JAC's longest residents, is given a cardiogram by veterinary technician students of the Bergen Community College of Northern New Jersey, with their instructor, Robin DeBode. They also checked up on "Stitches", a victim of dog fighting, who came to us almost dead and who, after a blood transfusion and 101 stitches, has lived to charm everyone he meets, including other dogs and cats!  (04/07/07)
