"For one year about 10 years ago, she was even a pet therapy
dog. Once a week, I would take her to a nursing home where
she made alot of
people smile."

Gimmee Shelter Capital Campaign
Small, individual acts of compassion toward stray animals take place every day, but these are not enough to mitigate the incredible torment these animals suffer. Communities must find creative, comprehensive ways to address the humane needs of these animals. By doing so, they enrich their own humanity, as well.

Such is the goal of Jersey Animal Coalition's "Gimme Shelter" capital campaign, which has made our 17-year dream of a new shelter facility in Essex County, New Jersey a reality. The shelter serves the local areas on a plot of land donated by the Village of South Orange, with the cooperation of Maplewood. The land is adjacent to a residential area, within walking distance to local schools, and easily accessible by the general public; factors which encourage acceptance of the shelter as a vital community resource.

Please help us to sustain our dream facility by donating to our ongoing campaign for continuous improvement and maintenance of the shelter. Please contact us for naming opportunities. Tour our shelter!

Lurie/Peabody Fund
This fund is dedicated to helping low income senior citizens keep their beloved pets and not be forced to give them up to the pounds. By our paying for routine medical care and providing food, we help prevent this from happening. Learn more about the Lurie/Peabody fund from JAC President, Ruth Perlutter.

Beauty Fund
This fund was established to provide extraordinary medical care for seriously injured or ill animals. It is named for a little dog who was brought to us with her skin burned away by acid. She was named "Beauty" by our teen-aged volunteers who helped raise the money for her skin grafts and treatment until she was healed and could be adopted. With the money that was left over, we established this fund in her name.

Neuter and Spay Fund
It is our goal to have every animal under our care neutered or spayed before adoption. Although we neuter or spay as many animals as we can, we cannot, as of now, afford to alter every one. And although we are authorized to offer the State low cost neuter/spay program, we find that even with this low cost incentive, many people do not take advantage of it.

Guardian Angel
Be a "Guardian Angel" by sending a donation every month! Even if it's very small, remember, small amounts add up! Adopt a Stray in Another Way "Adopt" one of our strays by making a small donation to help defray his or her boarding expenses until adoption, we will send you a picture of your chosen pet. After adoption, you can make another choice. You can even come and visit!

Provide for your Pet
Remember your pet in the event of your death If you haven't provided for your pet in your will, you might consider including a bequest to JAC for the loving care of your four legged friend when you are no longer there to care for him or her.

Gifts that Can Help You as Well as Us
If you are interested in a Charitable Remainder Trust, a gift of real estate, or one of many other ways of giving JAC a gift that will be mutually beneficial, you can either ask your attorney or accountant about this, or call JAC and we will be happy to have our financial advisor contact you.
